Poll results: 39% for European Union and 40% for Eurasian Union

In a referendum to choose between entry into the European Union and entry into the Eurasian Union, 38.7% of the respondents of a poll conducted by the Association of Sociologists and Demographers of Moldova would pick the first, while 40.1% the second. 6% would not go to vote, IPN reports.

According to the poll, if a referendum on Moldova’s entry into NATO was held next Sunday, only 23% of those surveyed would vote for, 55% would vote against and 10% would not take part in the ballot.

According to data analyst Nicolae Bodean, 5% of those polled do not know what NATO is, while 7% do not have an opinion on the issue.

Some 68% of those questioned consider the relations between Moldova and the European Union improved more or less after the February 24, 2019 parliamentary elections and only 11% believe they worsened.

Also, 67% of the respondents think the relations between Moldova and Russia improved more or less after these elections, while 8% believe they worsened.

The poll was carried out during January 2-13, 2020 and covered a sample of 1,189 adult people from 83 localities of the Republic of Moldova, except for the Transnistrian region. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3.0%.
