The Central Election Commission (CEC) is another  state institution that exceeded its authority, considers politologist Ernest Vardanean. He referred to the fact that the CEC warned the presidential administration about the inadmissibility of involvement in the election campaign, IPN reports.

Ernest Vardanean said he was sure the Party of Socialists will be removed from the electoral race given the tensions witnessed in the current election campaign. The attack became institutional in character and moved from the street and media outlets to public institutions. “I have to ascertain the fact that the CEC became another state institution that exceeded its authority and started to make political statements,” noted the politologist.

According to him, the Commission should have offered recommendations in a less ultimatum-like form and should have recommended the authors of complaints to go to court. In this case, the CEC would have maximally distanced itself from politics. “The CEC made directly a political comment,” stated Ernest Vardanean.

Politologist Boris Shapovalov also said that effort is being made to remove the Party of Socialists from the electoral race. The CEC does not have the right to tell the President who he should meet with and what he should talk about . “I’m sure particular preparations are made, if the Socialists win a majority of seats of MP, for the elections not to be recognized for the reason that the President intervened and used administrative sources,” he stated.

On February 8, the Central Election Commission warned the presidential administration about the inadmissibility of involvement in the election campaign. By a decision, it also warned the Party of Socialists against using administrative resources of the presidential institution in the election campaign. The decisions were taken after the Liberal Party and the Shor Party complained that President Igor Dodon resorted to image transfer and supports the Party of Socialists.
