Political parties allowed to spend up to MDL 7.5 mln in election campaign
The ceiling of the financial means which can be transferred to the Electoral Fund of a party, social-political organisations or electoral blocs is MDL 7.5 mln. The decision of the Central Election Committee was published in the Friday issue of the “Official Monitor of Moldova”, on April 20.
Unaffiliated candidates running for village (commune) mayors will have the right to spend MDL 200 mln; town, mayor (municipality) – MDL 300 mln; Chisinau Mayor – MDL 1 mln.
Unaffiliated candidates running for councillors in the village (commune) council will be able to benefit from a sum up to MDL 50 thousand; town council (municipality) and raion council – MDL 100 thousand; municipality of Chisinay MDL 300 thousand.
At the same time, according to the decision of the Central Election Committee as from April 20, political parties are allowed to take out loans without interest, up to MDL 40 thousand, and the candidates for the office of mayor or municipal councillor of Chisinau can solicit credits to the total sum of MDL 8 thousand. In raions, the amount of the credit was set at the level of MDL 4 thousand, village level – MDL 1 thousand. The credits allotted from the state budget shall be paid back within two months after the end of the elections.
The electoral competitors have to present to CEC for confirmation a person in charge of finances.
Local general elections will take place on June 3. 27 parties and social-political organisations are allowed to participate.
