Political confrontation forms part of election campaign, Dorin Chirtoaca

The Liberal Party's candidate for mayor general of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca questions the sincerity of the Communist Party's candidate Igor Dodon, who said the election campaign should be non-politicized. The opponents should discuss the problems faced by the residents of Chisinau between them. Related statements were made by Dorin Chirtoaca during debates at Publica TV, which involved the two candidates. “The Communist Party of Moldova, of which Igor Dodon forms part, is the representative of the Soviet Communist regime, which organized mass murders, famine and many other horrible crimes in the name of the hammer and sickle. I do not believe in Mister Dodon's sincerity, no matter how attractive his approach is,” said Dorin Chirtoaca. He also said that cooperation with the Communist Party is possible only if the party condemns those crimes and renounces the hammer and sickle. “Condemn the crimes of the communism, detach yourself from the ideology of the party if you claim you have European views. The persons who were against Moldova's independence now say they are for statehood, while those who fought for independence and sovereignty are now called opponents of the statehood. A nice approach,” said Dorin Chirtoaca. “You must not make accusations based on ideologies,” replied Igor Dodon.
