Policemen who refuse to register complaints will be dismissed

The employees of the police bodies who refuse to register the complaints on offences will be dismissed, the interior deputy minister, police lieutenant-colonel, Sergiu Golovaci, announced about this on a Tuesday briefing. According to MAI official, in the first semester of 2006 alone, 2 policemen were dismissed and others were sanctioned for discriminatory actions related to complaints submitted by the population. According to Golovaci, this year the number of cases when complaints were refused has increased significantly, fact showed by the commissions created in the localities aiming at discovering this phenomenon. He also noted that MAI is willing to apply the most drastic measures, including dismissals. Golovaci recommended to all citizens who were treated impolitely by the district policemen, those of the guard units and other subdivisions to address to police stations and the hot lines of MAI. In 2006, according to MAI statistics, 1,190 policemen were sanctioned, and in the case of 102 policemen penal proceedings were initiated.
