Policeman rejects USD 1,500 bribe
A young man aged 30, from Chisinau risks up to 7 years imprisonment for putting into circulation fake documents and for passive corruption. The young man tried to bribe a policeman so that he would „close his eyes” to the fake documents but the policeman rejected the proposal and announced the bribery.
According to the Press Center of MIA, the employees of the Organized Crime Fighting Department arrested the young man, manager of a Ltd, when he was trying to bribe with 1,500 dollars the policeman. The money was offered to the policeman in order to admit putting into circulation the fake certificates, which were authorizing trucks’ crossing through Moldova’s borders. The policeman refused the money, announcing the bribery.
Two penal proceedings were instituted according to the articles 325 line 2 and 361 line 2 of the Penal Code of Moldova “active corruption” and “making, keeping, selling or using false official documents, printers, and stamps”. If he will be deemed guilty, the young man risks up to 7 years imprisonment.
