A police officer died and four employees of the State Guard and Protection Service suffered serious injuries when the car in which they travelled crashed violently into a car hauler parked by the roadside. It happened on the M-5 road, at the intersection with the secondary road that goes to Pelenia village of Drochia district on the night of April 29, IPN reports.
The car in which the five travelled belonged to the State Guard and Protection Service and was driven by one of the young people, aged 28. The other four persons aged between 28 and 32 were taken to the Balti Municipal Hospital in a serious state.
According to the General Police Inspectorate, the first examinations showed the accident was the result of speeding.
A criminal case was started over violation of the road traffic rules that resulted in the death of a person. The General Police Inspectorate opened an internal inquiry to determine why the policeman was in that car.
