The public order at elections is generally respected. However, the police informed the Central Election Commission about a number of cases of violation of the electoral legislation, particularly political campaigning, IPN reports.

In a press briefing, CEC deputy chairman Pavel Postica said that the General Police Inspectorate reported 20 cases of violations by 11 a.m. These were mainly cases of political campaigning.

“The situation is more interesting in a locality in Gagauzia where there is agitation aimed at preventing voters from going to the polling station. The cases are examined by the General Police Inspectorate which will provide details later,” stated Pavel Postica.

The CEC repeatedly warned to observe the legal norms concentering campaigning, which is prohibited on election day. It is not allowed conducting or covering electoral activities. The candidates are banned from taking part in TV and radio programs.

Today’s elections are overseen by over 1,500 national and international observers accredited by the Central Election Commission. Of the total number, 1,092 are national observers who represent eight public associations of the country. More than 400 are international observers who represent embassies working in mold ova, foreign electoral authorities, international organizations, OSCE/ODIHR, ENEMO, the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, the European Parliament.
