Police offer assistance to people who got stuck on national roads

The police intervened in 165 cases to unblock motor vehicles with people which got stuck on national roads following the whiteouts, IPN reports.

Owing to the weather conditions, a number of road accidents occurred on November 26. On Sunday afternoon, a person died, while another two persons suffered injuries in a car accident on the G-89 km road to Nisporeni district and were taken to the hospital. One more road accident with a death occurred close to Chiperceni village of Orhei district at about 2 p.m.

In the afternoon, a vehicle skidded off the road in Sărăteni village of Leova district. A minibus running on the Tomai-Chisinau route got stuck not far from that place. No victims were reported.


Employees of the Patrolling and Emergency Response Battalion at about 7 p.m. offered assistance to an ambulance that remained blocked on a street in Chisinau and to another ambulance that was traveling from the Transnistrian region to Chisinau. The police in Cahul, together with volunteers of the Off Road 4×4 Cahul towed away about 30 cars that got stuck on the road to Moscovei village in Cahul district.

The persons who intend to travel are urged to equip their motor vehicles with sand, shovel and chains, to make sure the car heating system works and the fuel tank is full and to keep the mobile phone charged. In case of emergencies, the drivers should call the 112 Service.

By 9 a.m. on Monday, ten roads remained impassable, namely: R- 32 Cahul-Balabanu village; M-3 Novosiolovca-Vulcănești-Giurgiulești; R-35 Vișniovca-Cantemir-Comrat; R-26 Mihailovca–Cimișlia section; R-31 Tudora-Palanca; R-2 Chișinău-Bender, R-30 Ciobanovca–Troița Nouă; M-5 Bulboaca; Tohatin road towards Cheltuitori village; section of streets Băcioii Noi-Drumul Băcioiului.
