Two young men were arrested on suspicion of theft and rape. One of the suspects aged 19 broke into the house of a woman pensioner of 67 in a village of Ungheni district, from where he stole 600 lei. The next day, he and a friend of his entered the home of a woman aged 37, whom they raped and then stole her mobile phone, IPN reports.
According to the General Police Inspectorate, it was established that the two were under the influence of alcohol when they committed the offence. The 19-year-old man is from Ungheni district, while his friend aged 22 is from Ialoveni district. The two were placed under arrest for a period of 30 days and are now held in the remand center of the Ungheni Police Inspectorate.
If they are found guilty, the two will serve up to 12 years in jail.
