A police car was set on fire on the morning of November 3, when the second round of the presidential election took place. The police said the organizer and an accomplice in this case were arrested, IPN reports.
According to the police, 20 minutes before setting fire to the police car, at 03:00 in the morning, a 38-year-old Armenian citizen refueled his taxi car at a gas station in Chisinau. He also bought six liters of gasoline in a cylinder, from one liter making a "Molotov cocktail".
Going to the headquarters of the General Police Inspectorate, the man threw the "Molotov cocktail" into the Dacia Logan car in the Inspectorate's parking lot. As a result, the car caught fire, and the perpetrator fled.
He was detained in Chisinau on the evening of November 5. Th person who planned the crime was detained on the same day, in Varnița village of Anenii Noi district. This is a 37-year-old man, who allegedly organized the arson by order of a Transnistrian man who is in Moscow. According to the National Inspectorate of Investigations, the man who is in Moscow, a native of the Transnistria region, was going to report the incident to his tutor from Russia's intelligence services.
As a result of searches in the cars of the two individuals, there were seized phones with photos and videos of the police car being set on fire, as well as conversations with details about the commission of the crime. Among the photos taken were images of the money that was allegedly paid in reward.
The accomplice had been tried for drug-related crimes, and the organizer of the crime had previously been convicted in Russia for several crimes. Now the two are under criminal investigation and the Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases is to indict them. The accomplice's concubine is to be questioned as a witness.
Ahead of the runoff election, the police detained five people from Slobozia and Tiraspol who intended to set fire to the Central Election Commission. Earlier, a suspect from another criminal group was detained while he was examining the territories to precincts to intervene at the right time and set fire to police cars, the Central Election Commission, the Court of Appeals and public institutions.
