PM in Vulcănești: High-voltage power line is expected to be ready by yearend

Prime Minister Dorin Recean said that the Chisinau-Vulcănești 400 kV high-voltage line will be ready by the end of this year. Together with Minister of Energy Dorin Junghietu, the official on Thursday visited the building site in Taraclia to see how the works go, IPN reports.

"In order to ensure that everything goes according to plan, the works will be extended simultaneously in several regions, and the number of teams of workers will be supplemented. This week the works started in Cimișlia district and they need to be speeded up," said the head of the executive.

According to Dorin Recean, the high-voltage line through which electricity comes from Romania, before reaching Chisinau and the rest of the country, now passes through the Transnistrian region, which is why there is always a risk that the regime there will turn off the "tap" and the right bank of the Nistru will remain without electricity.

The official added that the new power line will ensure a direct, safe and stable interconnection between Moldova and the European Union.

"This project will strengthen the country's energy security, reduce the risks of interruption in the supply of power and eliminate dependence on the Kremlin, which has used energy as a blackmailing tool," said Premier Recean.
