The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) from Moldova has launched a drive called “the countdown for the Communist government”. Starting January 23 PLDM members will picket the presidential palace daily during 15 minutes at 12 o'clock and will show on posters how many days president Voronin has left. The announcement was made at a news conference by the leader of the youth organization of the party, George Mocanu. “The countdown for the Communist government has started. 75 days are left till Voronin's mandate expires,” Mocanu is quoted by Info-Prim Neo as saying. According to him,, “Moldova's chances of survival directly depend on ousting the Communists from power.” “Soon there will be 3 thousand days of Communist rule. 3 thousand days Moldova stayed in the dark cave of Communism. After 8 years of Communist rule, Moldova has plunged into deep crisis with severe problems related to the human rights, protection of property, freedom of entrepreneurship, freedom of media, independence of the judiciary,” said the young leader. Through this drive, the PLDM asks the ruling party to insure conditions to hold free and fair parliamentary elections, to observe the democratic norms and the citizens' freedoms. Moldovan president Vladimir Voronin's mandate is over on April 7, 2009.
