The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) is the party that included in its list of candidates for seats on the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) most of the current councilors. Seven of the 16 local councilors of the Liberal-Democratic faction (after the merger with the Moldova Noastra Alliance) entered the list of candidates. The Liberal Party included the lowest number of current councilors – only three, Info-Prim Neo reports. CMC chairman Ghenadie Dumanschi comes second in the PLDM’s list after the Government’s secretary general Victor Bodiu. Another six councilors written in the list are: Vasile Parasca – eighth, Pavel Caba – ninth, Emil Gutu – 14th, Nina Talmaci – 16th, Galina Talai – 23rd, and Stefan Crudu – 48th. “Seven is a representative number that means continuity. The councilors who were not included in the lists work for other state institutions. Some of them withdrew because they have other concerns now,” Ghenadie Dumanschi stated for Info-Prim Neo. The Communist Party’s list contains four of the 12 current councilors. These are the Communist faction’s chairman Valery Pavlov – seventh, Victor Odobescu – 13th, Mihail Garev – 15th, and Reghina Apostolova – 31st. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, the PCRM’s candidate for mayor of Chisinau Igor Dodon said emphasis was laid on promoting a young team of professionals. “Professionalism was a top selection criterion. We have a large number of representatives with economic studies, higher education in central and local public administration. The second criterion was age. The political orientation was also an important criterion,” said Igor Dodon. The Liberal Party included three of the present 15 councilors in the list. The second position is taken by Oleg Cernei, who joined the PL in April. Ion Gabura comes third, while Mihai Ceban – 18th. Ex-leader of the Liberal faction Corneliu Pantea, who is in litigation with Oleg Cernei in a case of slander, is not among the new candidates. “The work of every councilor in the Council was assessed. I think not the number of seats, but the quality of work counts. Unfortunately, many of the councilors concentrated on their personal interests, ignoring the problems of the Chisinau residents,” Oleg Cernei stated for Info-Prim Neo. Alexandru Corduneanu and Mihail Adauge, who entered the CMC on the list of the Christian Democratic People’s Party (PPCD) and became unaffiliated councilors after this party’s faction dismembered, were not written in the lists. The PPCD’s candidate for mayor of Chisinau Radu Busila, who tops the list of councilors, said Alexandru Corduneanu and Mihail Adauge are his trustworthy persons who support the party and the idea of promoting young people in the CMC. As to the other founders of the party, they remained members and supporters of the party. Among the unaffiliated councilors, the lists of candidates running in the June 5 elections include Oleg Onishchenko – the first in the list of the Our Home – Moldova Party, and Valery Climenco – the first in the list of the Sociopolitical Movement “Ravnopravie”. Another unaffiliated councilor who entered the Council on the list of the Democratic Party, Valeriu Cotaga, was written in the list of Democrat candidates under No. 12. Councilor Mihai Severovan is running independently. The Communist Party tops the list of candidates in the ballot for the election of Chisinau councilors. It is followed by the Liberal Party, the Liberal Democratic Party, and the Christian Democratic People’s Party. “Ravnopravie” comes sixth, the Democratic Party – tenth, while Mihai Severovan is the 29th. The electoral council registered 33 runners in the elections for the CMC.
