Disappointed with the socioeconomic and political situation in the country and determined to promote the national and European values, a number of young people launched a civic platform entitled “Honor, Dignity and Homeland” in a move to fight injustice and wrongdoings.
In a news conference at IPN, the platform’s head Vlad Biletski said the launched organization is apolitical and will never promote a party. It will work based on such values as respect for the country’s past and future, freedom of opinion, love for the Romanian language and Romanian nation, responsibility and honesty.
The platform’s members signed a petition, addressed to the country’s administration, by which they ask continuing on the path of European integration, publishing the Kroll report, reforming the justice system and demonopolizing the media. They also demand creating decent conditions to enable the people to build a future at home and amending the Constitution so that it provides that the Romanian language is the official language.
Platform coordinator Liliana Esan said that even if the organization was created not long, it carried out a number of activities, including an event to commemorate Ion and Doina Aldea-Teodorovici on October 30, 2014, the Dragobete event on February 24 and the campaign “No teacher without martsishors” on March 1, within which martsishors were given to all the professors of the State University of Moldova. Also, on March 27 they staged an event to mark the 97th anniversary of Bessarabia’s union with Romania.
The organization’s deputy head Corina Bezer said they will also mount the Tricolor Day on April 27 and will stretch a 25-meter long tricolor at the State University. In the period between April 27 and May 10, there will be staged the campaign “I choose the Tricolor”. A tent will be put up in the Great National Assembly Square of Chisinau to offer passersby leaflets with information about the tricolor.
Platform member Elena Botnaru called on the people, especially the young ones, not to be indifferent to what is going on as indifference gives birth to irresponsibility.
So far the platform was joined by 87 young people and more members are invited. Information about how to join the organization can be found at www.odipmd.ro.
