Platform for high-quality textbooks

The Ministry of Education launched a communication platform entitled “I want good textbooks” in a move to support the improvement of the quality of school textbooks. Through this platform, parents, teachers and students will be able to report errors and inconsistences in the content of the textbooks. The proposals will be examined by groups of experts created by the Ministry and will be taken account of when the textbooks are reviewed, IPN reports.

The platform contains individualized questionnaires for students, teachers and parents. These are invited to state their opinions about the textbooks’ content. At the first stage, there are proposed 38 textbook titles that are to be reedited by September 1, 2015.

For the purpose, the information from these questionnaires will be collected by April 15. In the period between April 10 and May 11, the working groups will examine the corrections made by the publishing houses and will approve the new contents for reediting.

The project is implemented in partnership with MiLab – a platform created by UNDP Moldova and the Electronic Governance Center, by which players from the public, private and nonprofit sectors identity and experiment on invitations in dealing with social problems.

The school textbooks are reedited once in five years in the case of the fifth-twelfth grades and once in four years in the case of the first-fourth grades.
