The councilors of the Liberal Party (PL) picketed the Moldovan Presidential palace protesting against the earlier refusal of the Broadcasting Coordinating Council (BCC) to prolong the license of the Chisinau Pro TV station on Friday, December 19, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The PL councilors support Pro TV, and all the citizens who are defending their right to be informed. The protest takes place in front of the presidency, because namely Moldovan president Vladimir Voronin decides everything in this country,” PL leader Mihai Ghimpu stated. “Children from kindergartens know that in Moldova all is decided as Voronin says. We wanted to build democracy in Moldova, but at present we have the dictatorship of a party, and I am sure that in summer we shall get rid of this dictatorship and we shall start to live in a democratic country where there is freedom of expression, freedom of the press and justice,” Ghimpu added. According to him, Pro TV is a station “which promotes correctness and equidistance.” The Communist Government, which is preparing for the electoral campaign, decided to shut the single voice recording opinions of many parties. The PL councilors protested against the gesture of the police which refused all the places proposed for erecting the city hall’s Christmas Tree. “Yesterday Chisinau mayor Dorin Chirtoaca signed many ordinances of placing the tree in the center of the city, and no one was obeyed by the police. It is revolting, because the municipal police, according to law, should obey the mayor,” PL leader in CMC Corina Fusu stated. The PL hopes, however, that the ruling party will react to this problem, if the society insists upon it. Otherwise, the PL says it will apply other forms of protest, without specifying them.
