The Ukrainian authorities detected an artisanal pipe through which ethyl alcohol was illegally brought into Ukraine through the Transnistrian segment of the Moldovan-Ukrainian border, IPN reports.
According to the Ukrainian Border Police, the 300 m underground pipe went from the state border to the house of a 32-year-old Ukrainian citizen. As a result of searches, containers with a liquid smelling like ethanol were found in the home of the Ukrainian man.
The man is investigated for putting dangerous products on sale in Ukraine.
The Border Police of the Republic of Moldova didn’t provide details of this case. Press officer Raisa Novitski has told IPN that the case happened on the Transnistrian segment of the Moldovan-Ukrainian border where the border police have limited power.
