A working group is going to verify the legality of mobile telephony companies and IT firms, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Government, law-enforcing and controlling bodies have been instructed to do so by Moldovan president Vladimir Voronin. According to a communique of the Presidential press service, the way those companies observe the taxation laws will be especially checked up. The head of the state believes it’s imperious to assess the observance of all the conditions provided for by those companies’ licenses. At a meeting of the Supreme Security Council (SSC), Vladimir Voronin has demanded the responsible officials to better and strengthen the state informational security, and the Government to assess the legal and normative frame in order to adjust it to European standards and practices. At the same sitting, the SSC ordered the Government to consider the opportunity of sacking the general director of the National Telecommunications and Information Regulation Agency (ANRTI,) Stanislav Gordea, for irresponsibility and lack of initiative on exerting his duty, what had led to damaging Moldova’s information security. The SSC ordered the law-enforcing bodies to check the legality of the activity of the general director and other top officials of the ANRTI. The same Friday, a couple of hours later, the Government’s press service announced premier Vasile Tarlev convened the Government in extraordinary sitting and fired Stanislav Gordea, as Information Development Minister Vladimir Molojen was severely warned.
