PGO asked to provide information about MP Valeriu Guma

Members of the Anticorruption Alliance Wednesday sent a letter to the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO), by which they express theory concerns about the press reports saying that MP Valeriu Guma was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment in Romania by the Bucharest Court of Appeals, IPN reports.

The Romanian press reported last summer that the lawmaker was brought to trial for traffic of influence and complicity on offering bribe.

In a communiqué, the Anticorruption Alliance says that the reporting of such happenings seriously affects Moldova’s image abroad and the authorities should promptly express their intolerance of such phenomena.

The Alliance’s members asked the PGO to inform them about the actions it will take with a view to depriving the convicted lawmaker of immunity.

Founded in 2006, the Anticorruption Alliance is a benevolent union of Moldovan NGOs that aim to contribute to the diminution of corruption in society.
