Moldovan boxer Petru Ciobanu has won a bronze medal at the European Boxing Championships that are taking place in Minsk, Belarus. In the semifinals of the 81 kg class on June 7, he lost to Peter Mullenberg of the Netherlands 0-3, IPN reports.
But Dumitru Galagot (64 kg) scored a 2-1 victory against Germany’s Artem Harutyunyan in the semifinals. On June 8, he will compete with Russia’s Armen Akaryan for the continental gold.
Vasile Belous (69 kg) was close to winnning a medal, but was beaten in the quarterfinals.
Another two leaders of the boxing squad, Veaceslav Gojan and Alexandru Riscan, were eliminated in the preliminary stages.
Moldova is represented by 10 boxers at the European Champs this year.
