Petricani trolleybus line construction to be finished at the end of May
The trolleybus line of the Petricani district of the capital, with a 3.3 km length will be opened at the end of this month. Now the construction works is at about 80% of completion, declared the head of Public Transport and Communications Department (DGTPCC), Veaceslav Tarna. The cost of the works that started last year, is estimated at 74, 4 million lei. There are working daily about 500 persons in order to put into operation the trolleybus line as soon as possible. Tarna mentioned that the works finishing depends on financial resources and as well on the weather.
The trolleybus line construction on the street Mircesti is complicated, as there is slide danger in the area and because special works are needed. While constructing the trolleybus line, Mircesti and Petricani streets are also being repaired.
DGTPCC did not decide yet the number of trolleybuses that will ensure the connection between the district Petricani and the center of the city, at the moment being examined certain variants.
Now, to the Petricani district is circulating only buses and maxi-taxis. The local authorities explain the necessity of a trolleybus line by the increasing number of the inhabitants of this district. The Agrarian University is also situated there.
