Persons with slight forms of COVID-19 will no longer be hospitalized

The persons with slight forms of COVID-19 will not be hospitalized from now on, Prime Minister Ion Chicu stated in a press briefing on April 6, noting that Moldova will undertake the practice used in Europe. He noted that a number of factors will be taken into account, such as the presence of chronic diseases and the possibility of self-isolating at home, IPN reports.

“If it is possible, after the places available at health facilities are filled, the persons with slight forms will not be hospitalized,” stated Premier Chicu.

He said the situation is particularly difficult in the districts of Ştefan-Vodă and Soroca, where the infections with COVID-19 represent almost one third of the total number of cases recorded in Moldova. The infected healthcare workers in these districts represent 55% of all those infected in the national healthcare system.

The authorities decided to massively test all the doctors in the two districts. The doctors in the rest of the regions, from all the medical institutions, will be tested later, gradually. The official said that the state will sign contracts with private labs so that the healthcare workers could be tested for COVID-19 massively.

The towns of Ştefan-Vodă and Soroca were placed in quarantine on April 1.
