A number of persons said they were dispossessed of property of millions of euros by a group of people who work for former Prime Minister Vlad Filat and former Deputy Head of Parliament Vlad Plahotniuc. The statements were made in a news conference at IPN, organized by the leader of the People’s Movement “Antimafie” Sergiu Mocanu.
Mocanu said that persons loyal to the two politicians resort to appropriation schemes to dispossess businessmen of money and property. In 2012, Vlad Filat planned to take over Banca de Economii. Several million lei was to be taken out of the bank in the form of loans through the agency of fathom companies. The loans were to be transferred to the accounts of offshore companies. The bank’s shares were to decrease in price and Vlad Filat was to buy them with money stolen from the bank. The scheme failed. Those through whom the former Premier acted betrayed him and the money reached Vlad Plahotniuc.
Denis Ureche presented himself as the former owner of one of the eight companies by which €15 million was removed from Banca de Economii. He told the news conference that he was enticed by persons loyal to Filat to take out a loan of €1.7 million for building a water factory. When he found out what goals were pursued, he wanted to return the money, but the bank didn’t agree. The man, who lost his business as a result of these schemes, said that persons from the bank’s administration were involved in the planned swindles.
Lilia Munteanu, former shareholder of the company “Guguta”, accused the same persons of leaving her without property and money. She said that in 2007 she sold offices and a plot of the company for 5.28 million lei to them. A sale and purchase contract was concluded, but the money wasn’t paid immediately. Afterward, she found out that the offices and land were pledged with a bank. “I didn’t know what they intended to do. I trusted them, but they betrayed my trust,” said the woman. The two sides are now in litigation.
Sergiu Mocanu said all the documents related to these cases will be submitted to the embassies working in Moldova.
