The socially disadvantaged persons from Chisinau can have lunch at one of the six social eateries working in the capital city. The service is provided by the municipality for a period of one month in a quarter, except for Saturdays and Sundays. If the beneficiaries of the social eateries are confined to bed, the social worker takes the lunch home to them.
Contacted by IPN, senior specialist of the General Social Assistance Division Aurelia Bulat said the persons who have the domicile in the municipality of Chisinau can become beneficiaries of social canteens. These are usually persons with low incomes, pensioners, persons with disabilities and families with many children.
To become beneficiaries, the persons must file an application to the local Social Assistance Division in the district where they have the domicile. They must also present a set of documents, including the copy of the identity card and of the permit based on which the pension is set. The persons with special needs must also present the copy of the disability certificate. After the lists are compiled, the beneficiaries must have medical examinations to see if they do not suffer from infectious diseases.
In the municipality of Chisinau, there are six social eateries. In Botanica district, such an eatery that can daily feed 160 persons is located at 9 Sarmizegetusa St. The persons in need from Buiucani district can have lunch at the canteen situated at 1 Musatinelor St.
There are two social eateries in Centru district of Chisinau, at 53 Soseaua Hancesti St and at 55 Tighina St. The socially deprived persons from Ciocana district can go to the eatery located at 8 Constantin Stamati St, while those from Rascani district – at the eatery situated at 16 Tudor Vladimirescu St.
