The blood group will be excluded from identity cards, passports, diplomatic passports and service ones. The nationality will also be excluded and the period of validity of passports will be extended. A bill to this effect was passed by Parliament in the first reading on February 22, IPN reports.
According to Democratic MP Constantin Tutu, one of the authors of the bill, there are many cases when the data about the blood group from the identity cards are not accurate and the reasons are different. The exclusion of the blood group from the identity card is an international practice and is also an instrument for fighting corruption and for facilitating the obtaining of documents. Information about the blood group is no longer necessary when there are express tests that can be done when necessary.
As regards the period of validity of passports, this will be extended from seven to ten years for holders older than 16. For those younger than 16, the issued passports will have a period of validity of seven years. Children under four will have papers valid for four years.
