Prime Minister Ion Chicu called on the people to pray at home and not to go to church. He made the call after announcing that of the 1,400 churches existing in Moldova, two held services with the participation of parishioners on April 4, IPN reports.
After the meeting of the Single Command Center that manages the COVID-19 pandemic, Premier Chicu said that at one of the churches, the service was attended by four persons, while at the other one by seven parishioners. Even so, penalties will be imposed in these cases.
The official reiterated that the danger of infection is very big.
A state of emergency was declared in Moldova in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic until May 15. A number of 752 infections with COVID-19 were confirmed in Moldova so far. The death toll from the infectious disease rose to 12.
