Pensions to be indexed by 6.1% in April

On April 1, 2025, pensions and social benefits lower than 16,100 will be indexed by 6.1%, Prime Minister Dorin Recean announced at a news conference on Wednesday, IPN reports.

"The indexation will be 6.1%, according to the law. This increase will apply, first of all, to pensions that are relatively lower, i.e. below the average salary forecast for 2025 – 16,100 lei," said the head of the executive. According to the Premier, the pension system is still unbalanced and the Government's efforts are aimed at reducing the existing inequities.

President Maia Sandu's initiative to increase the minimum pension for people with a contribution period of 40 years, up to 3,300 lei, will be implemented from May 1, 2025.

The victims of political repression will benefit from an increase of 250 lei in the monthly state allowance. Also, from January 1, 2025, the one-time childbirth allowance will be 21,350 lei.

"We stand by the citizens and come with greater support when necessary. The direction we are following is in the interests of the people as we aim to gradually increase the incomes of all Moldovans," said Dorin Recean.
