The Communist Party (PCRM) can support the bill providing for the elimination of parliamentary immunity, which was proposed by the Pro-European Coalition, Communist MP Grigore Petrenco said in a public debate staged by IPN.
The lawmaker said this bill is a PR move by the government and the voting of this bill by the Communists is in fact a test for it. He is convinced that when the Communists give the necessary votes, the coalition will give up the protests as it fears the consequences of the law.
Grigore Petrenco said the final decision will be taken by the Communist parliamentary group in a meeting.
Last week, the Pro-European Coalition submitted a bill to annul the absolute immunity of the MPs. For the Constitution to be modified, there are needed 2/3 of the votes. The necessary number of votes can be garnered only if a certain number of opposition MPs give their votes.
