PCRM accuses power of indifference towards case of Artur Reshetnikov
The Communists Party (PCRM) accuses the authorities of indifference towards the kidnapping and torture of the candidate for MP on the Communist ticket Artur Reshetnikov, the former head of the Security and Information Service, Info-Prim Neo reports.
PCRM’s jurist Serghei Sarbu, who is also a candidate on the party’s list, told a news conference on Tuesday that the agony of the Filat regime entered the last phase. Terror started to be used not only against politicians, but ordinary people as well.
The Communists say that after the Alliance for European Integration came to power, the racket, organized crime and murders by order, armed robberies and other offenses returned to Moldova. Serghei Sarbu mentioned in this connection the grenade explosion in central Chisinau on October 14, 2009, the incident involving MP Ina Supac, who was attacked in the street a year ago, and other cases of threatening and attacking representatives and candidates of the Communists during the election campaign.
The PCRM’s candidates accuse the law enforcement bodies of ignoring the violations of the law. The police have only one task – to monitor the activities carried out by the Opposition, said Serghei Sarbu.
Another Communist candidate Mark Tkachuk said the fact that discrediting information was sought from Artur Reshentikov confirms that this incident is political in character.
The Communists Party issued a communiqué, saying the former head of the Security and Information Service Artur Reshetnikov, who runs as a candidate on the party’s list, was attacked by individuals and beaten cruelly on the night of November 23. From the hospital, Artur Reshetnikov told the reporters that he was seized and taken by car to a building, where he was tortured into providing information discrediting the Communist leader Vladimir Voronin.
The PCRM denied the possibility of a simulation of the kidnapping.
