Moldovagaz is willing to buy gas at market prices for Tiraspoltransgaz, and the payment can be made in lei, the acting head of Moldovagaz Vadim Ceban posted on his Telegram channel, in reaction to the Transnistria leader Vadim Krasnoselsky’s assertion that the Transnistrian region cannot purchase gas from the European market because it does not have accounts to pay in euros or dollars.
"The purchase of gas can and must be made in Moldovan lei, and Tiraspoltransgaz already has experience in this regard," emphasized Vadim Ceban.
Moreover, according to Ceban, the acquisition by Tiraspoltransgaz is not related to foreign exchange operations (editor's note: as Krasnoselky claims), as the problem resides in the obtaining of the license for supply, and the company based in Tiraspol does not enjoy this opportunity in the created situation.
Vadim Ceban reminds that "from November 2021 to May 2022, Tiraspoltransgaz successfully paid, through Moldovagaz, all invoices for transporting additional volumes of gas to the territory of Ukraine, according to the contract with Gazprom."
On Thursday, during a meeting with the OSCE chairpersons, the so-called leader of the Transnistrian region sad that they cannot buy gas from the European market. "Not because we don't have money, but because we don't have accounts to pay in dollars and euros for gas," stated Vadim Krasnoselsky.
