“We don’t think we should tell the sympathizers how they should vote,” said Pavel Filip, the president of the Democratic Party (PDM) that does not have a candidate in the presidential elections. After the meeting of the PDM’s Standing Bureau, Pavel Filip said the party decided to pursue another type of politics and no one will impose anyone to support a particular candidate in elections, IPN reports.

The politician reminded of the campaign to consult the people where, as he said, he realized that the people are preoccupied with what will be there after the elections – how governance will be like, how the projects will be continued, how uncertainty, chaos will be avoided. The people want to be sure that the election outcome will not generate political wars, but will mobilize the politicians to work so as to help the citizens. “We are sure that the members of the Democratic Party and our sympathizers will vote in the presidential elections based on these expectations and reasons,” stated Pavel Filip.

According to him, the upcoming presidential elections will pass, but it is the duty of the politicians to reach compromises when it goes to the national interests. “The Democratic Party will not further radicalize the political arena in Moldova and will try to be a factor of balance,” stated the politician.

“We will all unite around major objectives that will help the country to go on and not to be exposed to the risk of entering a blockage and a new, dangerous political crisis. Not the political competition, but the capacity to find things that unite us is the most important thing in the current situation.”
