The Democratic Party does not currently wish to make an offer to the Socialists or the ACUM bloc for reorganizing or restructuring of the governing body, PDM has its own agenda. The statement was made by the leader of the democrats, Pavel Filip, on "Moldova live" show, on Moldova 1 public TV station, IPN reports.
"The PDM has its own agenda and is ready to talk openly with anyone who comes to govern in the interests of the Republic of Moldova, but not against them," said Pavel Filip.
At the same time, Pavel Filip says that he was the only candidate for the head of the party because, during the crisis, "there are not too many members willing to lead the political party". “The decision making process to put forward my candidacy for Democratic Party leader was not a simple and short one. I made this decision only after visiting our territorial organizations,” said the former prime minister.
The politician claims that within the party they have answers to the questions mentioned by political commentators in the public space. "We are used to discussing these things internally. We pointed out a few things. At the same time, we had to call for mobilization," said the leader of the Democrats. Pavel Filip mentions that the retreating into opposition of the PDM, which has obtained the highest number of mandates in its history, can be explained by the party’s low political score.
Columnist Nicolae Negru is of the opinion that the extraordinary Congress of the PDM was a democratic, transparent one, but not all aspects to be addressed at this stage have been highlighted. Some things have not been sorted out and no answers have been given to some questions posed by PDM members: how could the Democratic Party, which had the highest electoral score in its history, retreat into opposition?
The columnist also argues that the PDM relinquished power with the agreement of the development partners of the Republic of Moldova, which means that the party crossed some "red lines" that the West did not tolerate any longer.
The 9th Extraordinary Congress of the Democratic Party took place on Saturday, September 7th.
