Patria-Moldova leadership wants to get rid of its president

The political board and national council of the Patria-Moldova Party (PPM) have announced no confidence vote to the party’s president, Andrei Tarna, and the member and parliamentarian Gheorghe Musteata. The statement was announced at a news conference on Tuesday, March 11, by the deputy president Gheorghe Sima, Info-Prim Neo reports. Although now Patria-Moldova is not registered, its leadership members have decided not only to express a no confidence vote to its leader, but also to ban him to make political statements in the name of the party and intend to recommend the PPM members to elect a new president at an extraordinary congress, likely in a month or so. Gheorghe Sima explains the position of the PPM leadership by the fact that, on March 13, the party’s leaders are invited to the Russian Duma’s sitting for consultations on the situation of Transnistria, South Ossetia and Abkhazia. The party is ready to propose a set of documents that would allow for the conflict settlement, he says, by declaring Russian as a second official language in Moldova, creating a confederation, non-accepting Transnistria’s declaring itself a separate state, accepting the privatization on the left bank of the Nistru etc. Meanwhile, the PPM leader stands for Transnistria’s independence, and then to have its status discussed. Sima says the MP Musteata has the same opinion, a reason why he got a no confidence vote, too.
