PAS Center: When information existed for 25 years and disappears at a certain moment, this is suspicious

The Center for Health Policies and Studies (PAS) gave up carrying out a study of the level of satisfaction of hospital patients because the Ministry of Health no longer publishes information about the revenues of hospitals in the statistical yearbook. Thus, the resources obtained by health facilities from the state budget, health insurance funds and from medical services provided by them for money are not known.

Gennady Turcanu, programs coordinator at PAS Center, in a press club meeting said after the medical services provided by the national health facilities were raised several times, it is extremely necessary for the information about their revenues to be made public.

“When information existed for 25 years and disappears at a certain moment, this is suspicious. When transparency is ensured, any doubt disappears and there are fewer problems,” stated Gennady Turcanu.

According to the programs coordinator, neither the Ministry of Finance ensures transparency in the management of public money by the health system within all the programs. Access to information about the management of money should be ensured and each expert commission of the Ministry of Health should present progress reports.
