The Party of Law and Justice started its election campaign and presented its program for the snap parliamentary elections of July 11. In a news conference at IPN, the party’s president Nicolae Alexei said that without solving the problem of corruption, the Republic of Moldova will be unable to attract investments and to develop from economic and social viewpoints.
Nicolae Alexei, who is under No. 2 on the party’s list of candidates, said that in a country like Moldova, which was brought to its knees and is at the bottom of the precipice, all the areas of activity are a priority. When they enter Parliament, the members of the Party of Law and Justice will start to bring things in order in all the areas. “We will revitalize the national economy and will build an economic model that will generate a strong economy and sustainable development. Investments are needed to stimulate economic development. Without investments, good things cannot happen in any country. But investments do not come to a corrupt country. Corruption drives investments away and investments run away from corruption. That’s why we will simultaneously make effort to annihilate, combat and root out corruption as we are now one of the most corrupt countries in Europe and, respectively, one of the poorest countries as a corrupt country cannot be rich,” stated Nicolae Alexei.
Mariana Durleșteanu, candidate No. 1 on the list, said the party enters its campaign with the slogan “Restarting Moldova!”. She noted that the corrupt persons do not have a place in Parliament and the Government. “We decided to form a team according to the principle of quality, not quantity and therefore we have 56 candidates. The team consists of professionals who achieved clear resuts in their professional activity and are responsible,” noted Mariana Durleşteanu.
She spoke about the objectives in the economic sector, saying the Party of Law and Justice pleads for a strong economy that will improve everyone’s wellbeing. “Only this way the state can regain the trust of the business and of society in general,” she stated.
The party has five objectives that are stipulated in its electoral program, namely: justice; revitalization of the country, including of its banking systems and SMEs; support for startups from European or state funds’ bringing of the diaspora home and its involvement in business; support for agriculture. “We must consume what we produce. I do not say we should eliminate imports, but we can no longer tolerate the import of products of a poor quality at a time when these can be produced in our country,” stated Mariana Durleşteanu. Among other priority areas are education, healthcare, social assistance based on support for socially deprived groups, the reform of the central and local administration.
The head of the party’s electoral staff Alexei Busuioc, ex-mayor, spoke about the objectives of the Party of Law and Justice in the central and local public administration. He referred to the liquidation of districts, saying these territorial units are inefficient and are Soviet remains that are of no use. The local offices of the State Chancellery will be reduced in number and will be replaced with the prefect’s offices.
