As not all the political parties complied with their obligation to submit mid-year financial reports to the Central Election Commission by the due date, the CEC has extended the deadline until September 15, after which sanctions will apply, IPN reports.
CEC Secretary Veaceslav Agrigoroae said that only 27 of the 45 existing political parties presented their reports. Of the parties that submitted the reports, 19 met the original deadline, and 8 failed to do so.
The CEC has noted that the submitted reports mostly correspond to the requirements. There are irregularities though: in some cases, the donation amounts exceeded the 75,000 lei limit allowed per individual donor. The CEC will request the Fiscal Inspectorate to check the origin of the donations larger than 75,000 lei.
