Political parties are required to submit to the Central Electoral Commission their annual financial reports by April 1, given that the regular deadline of March 30 falls on a Saturday, the CEC announced in a press release.
Reports must be submitted to the Commission in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Political Parties and the Regulation on the Financing of the Activity of Political Parties. Subsequently, they will be made public and posted under the Financial Reports section on the official website of the institution www.cec.md.
The parties with annual incomes or expenses above 1 million lei are required to audit their financial reports at least once in three years. The audit reports and the corresponding financial reports must be submitted to CEC, and if the party in question received state budget subventions, to the Court of Audits as well.
According to CEC, over the last three years nine parties had annual incomes of 1 million lei or higher. These are the following: the Democratic Party, the Communist Party, the Liberal Party, the Socialist Party, the Shor Party, the Our Party, the Liberal Democratic Party, the Liberal Reformatory Party, and the PAS Party.
