The head of the London delegation, Alf Dubs, president of the moldo-brittanic friendship group, after a meeting with the speaker Marian Lupu, declared that the Britain parliamentary delegation that is currently in a visit to Chisinau will return to London with a better understanding of the situation of the Republic of Moldova. Dubs declared that during the meeting several issues were discussed, like the Transnistrean problem, visas, economical and commercial relations between the Republic of Moldova and EU after Romania joins the EU on January 1 2007, ways to improve existing relations. According to him the collaboration relations between the parliaments of the two states were also discussed, and both sides expressed their hopes that the relations will keep improving. Marian Lupu appreciated the discussions as very productive, “in a friendly fashion”. It has been concluded that in 2006 the inter-parliamentary relations of Republic of Moldova and Great Britain were brought to a new level, and they will be sustained for the development of political dialogue between the heads of the two legislative bodies. The interlocutors, according to the speaker, have discussed the most important subjects for the Republic of Moldova – EU relations - defining a new juridical frame for the EU-RM relations after 2008, the juridical frame for commercial exchanges, packages of macro economical assistance that is to be granted to Moldova by the EU in order to decrease the negative impact of the Russian market wine import restriction, and the price increase of natural gases etc. The visit schedule also includes meetings with Valeriu Ostalep, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Vasile Sova, ministry of Reintegration, Zinaida Greceanii, prime-viceprime-minister. The Britain parliamentary delegation will also meet members of the Committee of foreign policies and European integration and with the Group of parliamentary friendship with the United Kingdom. The Great Britain guests will also take part in the celebrations of the National Wine Day.
