Igor Dodon, the leader of the Party of Socialists (PSRM), which is in the opposition, said the ruling parties – the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) and the Democratic Party (PDM) – try to hide the illegal activities on the currency market, while the Party of Communists helps them in this. According to the politician, the three parties pretend to be investigating the situation. On the other hand, the head of the parliamentary commission of inquiry into the situation on the currency market, Democratic MP Marcel Raducan said the commission works normally and such statements are not beneficial.
The last meeting of the commission was held on March 3, behind closed doors. Not even the chairman of the National Participation Council Sergiu Ostaf had access to it as an observer, IPN reports.
Marcel Raducan told the journalists after the meeting that they discussed the answers to the questions put to the National Bank of Moldova, the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office so as to have a clear picture. “In the next meeting, we will examine the second part of the answers from the central bank and the Security and Information Service. The National Bank’s governor and officials in charge of the currency market will be invited to that meeting. The Commission must take into account all the answers of the competent bodies and compile a report as to who is to blame and who didn’t obey the law, which will be presented in Parliament,” he stated.
MP Igor Dodon told the reporters that according to his information, 13 billion lei was stolen from Banca de Economiii last November. Afterward, the central bank decided to allocate 10 billion lei to fill the created gap. “We asked that the relevant secret decisions signed by Iurie Leanca and Dorin Dragutanu be made public. The colleagues from the commission pretend not be hear us. The Communists play the game of the PDM and PLDM, which are trying to escape punishment,” he stated.
The next meeting of the commission will take place on March 5.
