Parliament to adopt package of laws for reforming PGO by yearend

The legislative body by the end of this year will adopt the whole package of laws needed for reforming the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO), Speaker Igor Corman said in the opening of the conference “Promotion of depoliticization and independence of the public authorities and institutions: International commitments and standards versus current practice”, IPN reports.

The democratic character of Moldova depends greatly on the independence, autonomy and transparence of the state institutions, said Igor Corman, quoted by the Parliament’s press service.

He called on civil society to join efforts together with the authorities so as to implement the reforms designed to ensure transparency and independence in the work of the public institutions.

Among the priorities of the autumn session of Parliament is the reformation of the justice sector and the Security and Information Service.
