The President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia Urška Klakočar Zupančič arrives in Chisinau on Wednesday. It is the first visit paid to the Republic of Moldova by a speaker of the Slovenian Parliament in the 32 years since the establishment of Moldovan-Slovenian diplomatic relations. During the January 22-24 visit, people's access to some of the public places in the capital city will be temporarily limited, IPN reports.
The Parliament’s Public Relations Division said that the Slovenian delegation includes members of the Republic of Slovenia – Republic of Moldova Parliamentary Friendship Group led by Miha Lamut and Secretary General of the National Assembly Uršula Zore Tavčar.
The Slovenian officials will have meetings with President Maia Sandu and Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu. At the end of the meeting, the heads of the two parliaments will hold a joint press conference.
In Parliament, the Slovenian Speaker will have discussions with members of the Commission on Foreign Policy and European Integration led by MP Ina Coșeru, and also with representatives of the Platform of Women MPs headed by the Deputy Speaker Doina German. The program of the visit also includes meetings with Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian and with Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihail Popșoi.
The discussions will focus on the European path of the Republic of Moldova and the opportunities to intensify the Moldovan-Slovenian relations, interparliamentary cooperation, the justice sector reform, the impact of the Russian aggression against Ukraine on the situation in the region.
The Chisinau City Hall noted that, in connection with the visit of January 22-24, people’s access to the city center and the arteries that ensure connection with the Chisinau International Airport will be limited. Also, in the perimeter of the streets where the official column will move, the works to repair roads, electrical/thermal energy networks, water supply/sewerage systems and to fell trees will be stopped.
Drivers are urged to comply with the instructions of the traffic police, to show patience and discipline in traffic and to obey the Road Traffic Regulations.
