Parliament appoints three members of the Certification Commission
The Parliament appointed on Thursday, December 13, three members of the Certification Commission, two of whom are representatives of the Party of Communists.
The commission is in charge with the certification of all registered non-governmental organisations. The three members are the Communist MP Gheorghe Popa, former Chisinau deputy mayor Ala Mironic, a PCRM member, and Galina Bostan, head of the Centre for Prevention and Analysis of Corruption.
The Parliament’s Communist majority endorsed the candidates, with the Opposition voting against.
The Certification Commission is set up within the Ministry of Justice for a term of five years and is made up of nine members: three appointed by the President, three by the Parliament and three by the Government.
The state certificate issued by the Commission is the official document certifying the public usefulness and the non-profit nature of the NGOs, etc. At the same time, the certificate serves as a tax relief document, also granting certain facilitations and privileges.
