The parents who lost their children in fighting in peacetime and in the Chernobyl cleanup will receive by 500 lei a month. Earlier, such allowances were paid only to the parents of persons who took part in the military conflict for defending the territorial integrity and independence of Moldova and in the Afghan war and were killed in battle.
The list of recipients of allowances was extended by a bill proposed by the Government, which was passed by Parliament in the first reading. The bill was put forward following requests made to the executive to ensure social equity.
According to the National Social Insurance House, 249 persons received such monthly allowances by January 1, 2013.
