Parliament has made a final vote on a set of amendments to the Code of Contraventions, including one that makes it an infraction to panhandle while pretending to have some form of disability. This will carry a fine of up to 1,500 lei or up to 60 hours of community service.
Another introduced infraction is carrying out noisy home renovation works on Sundays. This comes on top of the provision that bans such works between 6PM and 8AM.
New penalties are also introduced into the Code for actions that lead to soil degradation. For unauthorized storage of building materials or extractive industry waste on fertile soil, private individuals will be fined 4,000 to 7,500 lei, while legal entities 5,000 to 15,000 lei.
Further, internet providers will be subject to fines of up to 12,000 lei for deliberately slowing down, restricting, blocking or otherwise interfering with internet traffic.
Additionally, it becomes an infraction to carry mud or construction dirt with vehicles onto public roads.
