The Democratic Action Party (PAD) notes with concern that the Communist Party is holding the actual power in Parliament, without assuming the corresponding responsibility before the citizens; meanwhile, the parties in government haven't yet realized that they are already in opposition, PAD said in a statement on Friday. “Following a non-transparent dialogue between the leaders of the Liberal-Democratic Party and the Communist Party, a first fissure appeared in the Alliance for European Integration. PAD also notes the eagerness with which the two other component parties of the Alliance, the Democratic Party and the Liberal Party, resorted to the Communist Party's help to punish their partner. As a result, the irresponsible games of the Alliance leaders offered the Communist Party the possibility to fulfill its objectives announced half a year ago”, the statement reads. PAD believes that the expectations of stability based on a potential compromise with the Communist Party and the other parliamentary parties are naive. “The only situation where the Communist Party can emanate stability is in an authoritarian regime of a police state in a fashion witnessed during eight years of Communist rule”. In the created situation, PAD warns society that the democratic parties are being driven into a trap devised by the Communists and which will shape the future political developments: the Communists will further encourage scandals and reckoning among the Alliance component parties, waiting for the opportune moment to trigger snap elections. PAD calls the Alliance leaders to responsibility, lucidity and solidarity, urging the cessation of any unilateral collaboration with the Communists and the re-consolidation of the dialogue within the Alliance.
