PAD constituted officially, executives elected

The Democratic Action Party (PAD) elected its administration. In the national party constitution congress on November 6, MP Mihai Godea was voted in as chairman of the PAD, while Viorel Chivriga, Corneliu Gurin and Natalia Ceban as deputy chairpersons. Eugen Buzgan was elected as the party’s secretary general, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We will have to show over time that there is democracy in Moldova and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. It is evidently hard to obtain art and culture in a poor country and elevated education when there is no money, but together we can create decent living conditions at home for the 3 million people living in the center of Europe. The post entrusted to me today is an additional responsibility to prove that we can live better at home. Together we will convey the message that Moldova cannot be controlled or sold and the members of the PAD can prove this,” said Mihai Godea. The over 500 delegates from most of the country’s districts adopted the party’s statutes and program. Under the statutes, the PAD is a Liberal, reforming, European and pro-active party. The PAD aims to bring to power an honest, efficient, tolerant political class that is open for dialogue and ready to ensure the real reformation of society. “It is a party of action because everyone can make statements and promises, but it is harder to do things. We will prove that things can be changed through attitude and action,” said Corneliu Gurin, deputy chairman of the PAD. The congress adopted three special resolutions on the economic situation, justice, youth policy, European integration, education, the rule of law, and a political statement on the situation in the country. The representative of the National Liberal Party of Romania Bogdan Boza welcomed the creation of the Democratic Action Party and expressed his conviction that it will become a reliable partner of Romania’s PNL. “I consider this party must have a say in the election of the President of Moldova. It is not a personal desideratum, but a desideratum of the PNL, which wants Moldova to become a credible partner,” he stated. PAD leader Mihai Godea left the Liberal Democratic Party early in May and ran independently in the mayoral elections in Chisinau, initiating the foundation of the Alternative Democratic Platform. On July 21, the Platform’s leaders launched the Democratic Action Party.
