Due to the travel restrictions enacted by a number of member States regarding travel to the Republic of Moldova, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has decided not to maintain its scheduled election observation mission for the presidential election to be held in the country on 1st November 2020, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the institution.

PACE systematically observes elections in any country whose parliament has requested, or already holds Special Guest or Partner for Democracy status, which has applied for membership or which is subject to the monitoring procedure – which is the case of the Republic of Moldova – or is subject to the post-monitoring dialogue.
