Own accountability voting under student card

The special parliamentary commission for amending the Election Code will propose new amendments to the electoral legislation. The commission's chairman Valeriu Nemerenko said the legislative initiative includes a number of proposals submitted by the Central Election Commission, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Defense and civil society, Info-Prim Neo reports. “One of the main problems faced in elections is related to the students' right to vote, owing to the domicile issue. We suggest that the students of voting age who go to school in another settlement than where they live be allowed to vote at any polling place established in that settlement under three conditions,” Valeriu Nemerenko said. According to the MP, the first condition is to present the identity card accompanied by the loose leaf. The second is to present the student card and the last is to fill out and sign a statement whereby the students will commit themselves not to vote at another polling place. Valeriu Nemerenko said the Penal Code must also be amended. They propose punishing multiple voting with a fine of 4,000 to 8,000 lei, 100-200 hours of community service, of even up to two years' imprisonment.
