Over-collected budgetary money to be directed to social projects
The interim Mayor of Chisinau municipality, Vasile Ursu, intends to ask the Government until the close state budget rectification for 2006, to use over-collected money, from Chisinau, from the state budget for social projects.
According to the information of the Fiscal Inspectorate, over-collected money for Chisinau constitutes about 40 million lei. The Mayor hopes that this money together with those 41 million lei over-collected in the local budget to be directed primordially to financing suburbs, especially for preparing the education institutions for the new school year, for the reconstruction of roads and for public illumination. According to the mayor, in order to perform these works, about 35 million lei will be needed, although the suburban localities presented estimations amounting to 80 million lei.
The interim Mayor is for transferring money directly to the suburbs, avoiding the instrumentality of the municipal departments for constructions or public transport. Ursu hopes that in this way the local mayoralties will be able “to do twice as planned”, as they promised.
At the same time the mayor said the over-collected money will be also used for the summer vacations of children, as well as for the repair works of the education institutions of the municipality.
In the first 6 months of 2006, the money collected by Chisinau municipality for the National Public Budget constituted 2.617 billion lei, by 7% more than the planned level.
The amount of money remitted to the National Public Budget by Chisinau Municipality in the first semester of 2006, increased by 620 million lei or by 28.4%, compared with the similar period of 2006.
